A summary of the medical operations made with the Italian 11 seater in 2023.

CAPUA – In 2020, Apex Aviation acquired its first a state-of-the-art multi-mission P2012 Sentinel SMP to increase and enhance the organisation’s operational capabilities in Taiwan.

Upon joining the company’s fleet in 2021, the first P2012 Sentinel SMP was employed in multiple missions, including parachute jumping and aerial tours. With Medevac operations on the horizon, Apex Aviation has introduced a second P2012 SMP to join the fleet in 2023 for a continuous Air Ambulance support to most remote communities of the Country.

In 2023, Apex performed 333 flight hours of Air Ambulance operations, over 103 different missions, managing their P2012s through a team of 8 pilots, 5 mechanics and alternating the 2 Sentinel SMP aircraft on this specific Medevac role.

Through these amazing results Apex has brought relief and assistance to remote areas of the Taiwanese island, providing support to people in need of care, and in many cases saving lives.

In air rescue, nobody and nothing can fail, a principle that both people and aircraft must obey.

Apex, the only professional flight training organization in Taiwan, has expanded its operations with the multi-mission capabilities of the P2012 Sentinel SMP performing: passenger transportation, air ambulance missions, sightseeing tours, parachute jumping, aerial photography and more.

Based in RCFN Taitung airport, most of the Medevac operations are to/from RCBS Kinnen and RCSS Taipei Songshan Airport.

The Italian-made P2012 Air Ambulance aircraft is capable of operating on short prepared and unprepared airstrips. With one or two pilots, up to six doctors/operators (or patient’s relatives) and a Medevac stretcher, it provides a state-of-the-art air ambulance service for up to 600 NM transfers, at an operating cost that is a fraction of aircraft or helicopters with similar interior layout and cabin volume. Easy to load through the wide cabin door, the P2012 requires no special ground equipment for the Medevac mission, making it the ideal platform to operate from smaller, remote, unserviced airports and airstrips.

Francesco Sferra, P2012 & Special Mission Platform Sales and Business Development Manager“Apex Aviation anticipated and fully understood the flexibility and interoperability of the P2012 aircraft series for the wide range of missions it can perform. Tecnam is proud to support the ongoing Medevac operations in Taiwan, providing assistance to the most remote areas of the country and helping to save lives”

Wilson Chien Yu Kao, CEO Apex Aviation said: “We believe it’s the spacious cabin and low operating costs that set the P2012 apart, while advanced avionics provide the pilot with situational awareness not found in other last-generation competitors. In Taiwan the P2012 is the best choice because of its low operating costs. However, we see many potential contracts in Taiwan that make P2012 the only choice for fixed wing operations.”

TECNAM P2012 LANDS IN HAWAII https://tecnam.com/tecnam-p2012-lands-in-hawaii/ Fri, 22 Sep 2023 11:01:16 +0000 https://tecnam.com/?p=23229

The second Traveller arrived in Honolulu after a 15-hour ferry flight over the ocean.

CAPUA – Costruzioni Aeronautiche TECNAM is proud to announce the delivery of the first batch of two P2012 Traveller aircraft to Pacific Air Charter Inc. in Hawaii. Following the delivery of the first aircraft in August 2023, this second aircraft took off from Santa Maria (SMX) California and arrived in Honolulu (HNL) after a 14h 57m flight over the sea.

With a third P2012 aircraft currently being assembled at Tecnam’s facility in Capua, Italy, and 24 additional Travellers on option, Pacific Air Charters Inc.’s fleet is growing rapidly to serve the Pacific market.

Known for offering its customers the ultimate in luxury and safety, Pacific Air Charters, Inc. is the premium provider of air charter services in the Hawaiian Islands.
Multi-engine operations over water provide a significant safety advantage for the company’s market area. The P2012 Traveller will also offer very competitive operating costs due to its FADEC piston Lycoming engines. Passenger comfort was a key factor in the operator’s decision: All single seats with generous pitch, dedicated window and in-seat amenities, USB port, cup holder, seat pocket, armrest; plus overhead stowage and dual air conditioning (which can also be operated on the ground via a DC power connection to “pre-cool” the aircraft prior to boarding) offer limousine level comfort and convenience.

The first P2012 Traveller delivered to Hawaii demonstrated its versatility when a series of wildfires broke out in the US state of Hawaii in early August 2023, mainly on the island of Maui. The aircraft, operated by Pacific Air Charter Inc, had only been in Hawaii for 10 days when it was used to transport and deliver thousands of pounds of desperately needed food, medicine and other supplies to Maui and, on return flights, to evacuate those who needed medical attention in Honolulu.

Pat McNamee, Pacific Air Charters, Inc. Chief Operating Officer and 135 Director of Operations, said, “The P2012 Traveller confirmed that this is the perfect platform for this area. We are focused on premium services, but the aircraft has many capabilities and expands our options.”

“After one of the world’s most demanding ferry flights between the US West Coast and Hawai’i, our P2012 Traveller immediately demonstrated its versatility, being able to be configured for any mission required to serve a community. And with this last 15-hour ferry flight, we have set a new record for Tecnam!” Said Francesco Sferra, Tecnam P2012 – Special Mission Platforms Sales & Business Development Manager.

Tecnam Launches YouTube Mini-Series “The Nest” https://tecnam.com/tecnam-launches-youtube-mini-series-the-nest/ Tue, 21 Jun 2022 17:44:47 +0000 https://tecnam.com/?p=19905 Exclusive Insight Into Tecnam’s People, Technology & Never-Before-Told Stories

Tecnam Aircraft releases a seven-part short YouTube series “The Nest,” opening its doors to aircraft enthusiasts worldwide for the first time. The series invites viewers into the world of Tecnam’s Italian style, advanced and sustainable avionics, and never-before-told stories of the company’s people and legacy.

Capua, Italy, June 21, 2022 – Italian aircraft manufacturer Tecnam recently published a seven-part YouTube series titled “The Nest” to provide an exclusive tour of their Capua-based facilities, introduce their people and share their heritage with the company’s global network of aircraft enthusiasts.

For the first time ever, the company opens its doors – the doors to its Nest – to the world, showing the remarkable process of Tecnam engineering and design. This process of combining tomorrow’s technology with centuries of heritage steeped in both beauty and innovation, is what has defined Tecnam Aircraft since its inception in 1948.

The five-minute series echoes the voices of three generations of Tecnam: the Pascale family, beginning with Il Professore – Luigi Pascale – and his brother Giovanni, the founders of Tecnam – and continuing with the company’s current CEO Paolo Pascale and his son Giovanni Pascale Langer the Managing Director, and Maria Clara Pascale Langer, Head of Accounting & HR.

In three generations, the company has not only remained under the wings of its founding family, but it has cultivated a family of its own. In episode two of the series, Maria Clara explained:

“It may seem obvious, but above all family is the first, the most important [company value]. Not just family in terms of blood, […] but family as people working united every day, side by side, to achieve a common goal.”

In episode five, Marketing & Communications Manager Stefano Mavilio revealed that Tecnam has also seen generations of employees building their careers and their own family legacy into this family-owned and run business.

“As the Pascale family is in the third generation, also the employees are the third generation,” said Mavilio.

According to Chief of Sales Walter Da Costa, this family bond is what differentiates Tecnam on the market. “We are special. We have passion here,” Da Costa said in episode 7.

This passion for their craft and their common vision is palpable in The Nest series. From the voices of Tecnam experts to testimony of their partners, the company’s commitment to beauty, comfort, safety, innovation, and the broader aviation community are evident on every factory floor and in each interview.

Throughout the series, aircraft enthusiasts are taken to what is descriptively named as the “heArt” of Tecnam, exploring how designers take inspiration from their Italian heritage and its breathtaking nature, watching technicians assemble the aircraft using state-of-the-art avionics, and understanding Tecnam’s commitment to the green future of aviation.

The company’s approach to sustainable innovation is to engineer solutions with immediate and real-life applications. As such, Tecnam has quickly become the first choice of flight schools and airlines alike. As R&D Director Fabio Russo explains in episode four, it is estimated that flight schools can cut up to 10 tons of CO2 emissions per student in one and a half years of their training. Fuel efficiency, among other factors, also makes flight training with Tecnam up to 50% cheaper than with other aircraft.

“To be the best, they [have to] train with the best,” said Giovanni Pascale Langer.

However, it is not only Tecnam’s superior performance that is winning their clients and partners over.

In episode five, CEO of Oriens Aviation UK Edwin Brenninkmeyer cites Tecnam management’s on-the-ground presence and passionate involvement as a key element that places this brand in a league of its own.

“Giovanni, so the third generation, he has actually worked on the short floor. He has built his airplanes himself, so he has a relationship with the engineers, with the technicians and with the craftsmen, that’s so, so important,” said Brenninkmeyer.

Adding to Brenninkmeyer’s insights, Mavilio recounts how Managing Director Giovanni Pascale personally made the cross-Atlantic ferry flight to deliver the P2012 Traveler to a U.S.-based customer.

“I don’t know any other company where the Managing Director flies personally the first aircraft to deliver to a customer,” said Mavilio.

From nurturing their national and family legacy to building the future of aviation through sustainable and “flyable art,” The Nest series is an intimate portrait of Tecnam dedicated to aircraft enthusiasts worldwide.

Capua, Italy
— Tecnam is proud to announce that newly set up Pradera Verde Aviation Group of Companies in the Philippines has chosen to equip their fleet with six new Tecnam aircraft — five P2008 JC MkII aircraft and one P2010.

The Tecnam P2008 JC MkII is currently the most appreciated basic trainer on the aviation market. With its carbon-fibre fuselage, metal wings and stabilator, the two-seat P2008 JC has a vast number of advantages over traditional aircraft. This combination of both composite material and metal has resulted in a more fuel-efficient and much quieter aircraft.

Tecnam’s two-seat P2008 JC MkII version features a number of significant enhancements. Amongst these are a new avionics suite with a new design of both the dashboard and glare shield, thereby enabling the introduction of the Garmin innovative G3X Touch display with a MD302 attitude instrument.

The four-seat Tecnam P2010 is a larger cousin of the P2008 and shares many of its features, such as the high-wing design, single engine, and roomy cabin interiors, making it an excellent, versatile choice for this new operation. These two aircraft provide the basis for a profitable Flight Training business model, allowing state-of-the-art aircraft at low operating costs, which translates to happier students, lower rates, and greater profit for the FTO.

Captain Roberto C. Aguilar of Pradera Verde Aviation Group said, “A partnership with the right company can have an incredible impact on our business success. We strongly believe that Tecnam providing our air assets will ensure the most important aviation ethics we wanted to instill in our corporate culture, which is a client-centered, safe and reliable service.”

Based in Lubao, Pampanga, the Pradera Verde operation is impressively multifunctional and is currently in its third phase of setting up. It consists of an Executive Airpark, a Recreational Sports Flying Club, a Flight Training Academy, an Air Charters operation, Aero Maintenance Services and a Specialized Airline Service.

“We are so proud that Pradera Verde Aviation has chosen Tecnam for their fleet, and we look forward to a long-term partnership,” said Giovanni Pascale, Tecnam’s Managing Director. “For us, it is not only about selling more aircraft, but providing a smart and profitable solution to Flight Training establishments worldwide, such as we are doing with Pradera Verde in the Philippines.”

CAPUA – The P2012 Tecnam Traveller S7-ADM, commanded by Captains Gerhard Geyer, John Rachel and Anthony Hoareau, departed the Tecnam factory in Italy last week on a 4,500 nautical mile journey to Seychelles.

The delivery flight flew over Italy, Greece, Egypt, Sudan, Kenya and Tanzania to finally reach its destination.

As of today, Zil Air is the second world-wide operator, and the only one outside the USA, to offer the Tecnam Traveller in Commercial Operations.

First Batch of Tecnam P2012 Travellers Arrives in the US https://tecnam.com/first-batch-of-tecnam-p2012-travellers-arrives-in-the-us/ https://tecnam.com/first-batch-of-tecnam-p2012-travellers-arrives-in-the-us/#respond Wed, 02 Oct 2019 13:27:13 +0000 https://tecnam.com/?p=14781

It was an historical day for Tecnam and for the P2012 program when the first two Traveller aircraft were ready to depart Tecnam headquarters in Capua, Italy, and wing their way across the world to Massachusetts, US.

With this ferry flight to the first customer, the P2012 Traveller is officially born and in service. These first two aircraft represent the first batch of the 100 Travellers ordered by Cape Air as a result of a thorough and intensive development process in conjunction with Tecnam.

A ferry flight across the Atlantic takes more than a safe, reliable aeroplane. It also takes skill, confidence and a great deal of experience. So, when Tecnam needed a crew to fly these first two P2012 Traveller aircraft from Italy to the US, who better to take on the task than the Managing Director himself?

Grandson of the founding brothers, 28-year-old Giovanni Pascale stepped up to the role of Pilot in Command and successfully led his crew on this 4,000 NM journey, which took only three days to complete. He ferried one of the P2012 Travellers together with Co-pilot Elio Rullo, while Capt. Vito Preti and Technician Antonio Covino flew the other. There may have been just four crew members on board, but to these men it seemed that, spiritually, the entire Tecnam team had accompanied them on their journey, staying in close communication at all times, and cheering them on from afar.

There were fuel stops in five different countries. Their first airport was Groningen Airport in the Netherlands, followed by Inverness in Scotland and Reykjavic in Iceland. Next came Narsarsuaq in Greenland, which is known as one of the world’s most demanding airports because landing requires approach to the runway through a fjord, surrounded by mountains and glaciers.

Their final refuelling was at Goose Bay Airport in Canada, before heading due south to Barnstable Airport in Hyannis, Massachusetts, US., where they were greeted by enthusiastic Cape Air Executives, Founder & CEO Dan Wolf, President Linda Markham and James Goddard – Senior Vice President, Fleet Planning & Acquisitions.

The Tecnam crew members were kept constantly busy during the flight. In the air, they were hyper alert, flying around the weather in very tough and sometimes challenging conditions.  When on the ground there was no time to rest or eat, they were refilling fuel and filing flight plans and then getting back in the air as quickly as possible to take advantage of the weather.

Powered by two 375 HP turbo-charged Lycoming engines, the 11-seat Tecnam P2012 Traveller has a fuel capacity of 750 litres in the wings, but on this ferry flight — the longest ever for Tecnam — they carried an extra 450 litres in a collapsible ferry tank in the rear of the aircraft, significantly extending their range.

It was a very rewarding experience for the Tecnam crew, chasing the sun from one country to another, right across the world, with breathtaking landscapes and stunning topography along the way, especially crossing the Labrador Sea between Greenland and Canada.
