This latest engine development brings the aviation market unbeatable fuel efficiency and performance: the turbo Diesel/JetA1 powerplant offers an outstanding cruise-fuel burn that ranges from 4.5 USG/hr (17 litres/hr) at 55% power, to 7 USG/hr (27 litres/hr) at 75% power. This provides consistent performance up to 8,000ft and allows operations up to 18,000ft, raising the P2010 to “new heights” (for which an optional oxygen system is provided). Moreover, the standard P2010 fuel tanks ensure an unrivalled range in excess of 1,000nm and endurance of up to 15 hours, all monitored through the state-of-the-art standard G1000NXI avionics package.

The TECNAM design team has paid particular attention to maintaining the P2010 series characteristics of great comfort, low noise and minimal vibration. Some of the many options available include Premium leather interiors with electric seats; the GFC-700 autopilot, which ensures smooth and precise autopilot operations; and the additional safety that can be provided by the Garmin GTS-800 TAS system.

The P2010 TDI is a culmination of all the very latest technologies, where Tecnam’s ability to manage both metal and composite components has shaped a unique solution in terms of efficiency, load-carrying structure and unique Italian style. The fuselage and vertical fin, entirely made of pre-peg carbon fibres, provide the best use of space, while wings, horizontal tail and rudder, as well as all the load-carrying structures, are built with 70 years’ experience of light alloy structures.

Flight safety is self-evident in the latest certification requirements, followed by the electrically operated, adjustable-height seats with 26G-capable crashworthiness. Flying experience is the ultimate with the Garmin® G1000® NXi glass cockpit and GFCTM 700 autopilot, entirely integrated and tuned around the ContinentalTM CD-170 engine.

Continental’s JetA1/Diesel-powered 170 HP engine offers ease of flying with its single-lever control, full FADEC, electronic engine monitoring and redundant safety features. The CD-170 is the newest design and also the highest-horsepower engine in the CD-100 series, well-proven with more than 6,000 engines delivered and over 7.1 million service flight hours.

“The certification of a new aircraft is always a great achievement for us and for the aviation community, especially when it involves the best professionals of the Authority and from our company, setting the latest standard for safety and innovation,” says Paolo Pascale, TECNAM CEO. “The P Twenty-Ten remains a modern aircraft for flight schools and private owners. And now, with the Continental JetA1/Diesel engine, the P2010 TDI is simply the ‘ideal aircraft’, combining a modern, sleek, ‘green’ design with consistent, robust power.”

“The type certification for the Tecnam P2010 TDI is a significant milestone for the commercial use of JetA1/Diesel engines for flight schools and private owners,” said Jurgen Schwarz, Executive Vice President of Commercial Business for Continental Aerospace Technologies™.  “We are proud to partner with Tecnam to offer aviators the opportunity to fly a ‘green’ aircraft design with robust power. The CD-170 JetA1 engine technology and availability of Diesel fuel will allow P2010 TDI operators to focus on flight operations instead of dwelling on fuel mixture and limited flight range.”

P92 ECHO MKII – ‘BACK TO THE FUTURE’ WITH EU 600KG CATEGORY https://tecnam.com/p92-echo-mkii-back-to-the-future-with-eu-600kg-category-2/ Fri, 16 Oct 2020 18:42:40 +0000 https://tecnam.com/?p=4668 P92-EchoMkII-

TECNAM P92 Echo MkII joins the low-wing Sierra MkII already certified in the European Light Aircraft Category.

CAPUA – Italy.  Tecnam announced today the certification of the P92 Echo MkII light aircraft to the new German 600kg rules, the latest version of the EASA Basic Regulation that now allows for 600kg MTOW Ultralight (UL) aircraft under the control of the CAAs of the member states.

Germany is the first country to declare the opt-out, implementing the new-regulation German 600kg technical LTFUL 2018 rules. It is also the first country to develop and publish the necessary airworthiness requirements for these aircraft, delegating the certification process to the DULV (Deutscher Ultraleichtflugverband e.V.) agency.

Tecnam strongly believes in the new certification of the P92 Echo MkII, since it is not being limited to the German market but the Type approval is recognised in several EASA countries.

The P92 Echo MKII design and its 600kg certification provide a recognisable improvement in capabilities and performances, while maintaining the distinctive characteristics of the legacy P92 series.

The P92 typical short-field performances, excellent climb characteristics, efficiency, and rugged design, are now teamed with the Echo MKII streamlined composite fuselage, granting extraordinary cruise performances in unprecedented comfort.

The cabin volume has been increased, providing wider seats and extra fore and aft adjustment for optimal pilot and passenger accommodation; a modern and advanced cockpit has been designed for total aircraft control. The optional ballistic parachute, standard in the EU600 kg, and advanced Garmin G3X touch avionics, equipped with synthetic view and ground proximity warning, provide additional safety during every flight.

Since its initial design in 1992, when Tecnam CEO Paolo Pascale first proposed bringing the two-seat aircraft to the ultralight market, well in excess of a thousand P92s have been delivered worldwide. The chic Italian style of the newly certified P92 Echo MKII brings us yet another step closer to the future of this “instant classic” aircraft.

The P92 Echo MkII offers its renowned cost-efficiency and safety with state-of-the-art technology in a roomy and modern cockpit. Starting from the generous standard configuration, with analogue instruments, customers can choose from an extensive range of options that include the Garmin G3X touch suite featuring two 10.6-inch screens, transponder with GPS, ELT, BRS parachute, and many more.

In non-European countries, the P92 MkII is available in the Ultralight, US Light Sport Aircraft and Experimental categories, whereas the certified version, the P92JS, is available as the European CS-VLA.

CAPUA – Tecnam announced today that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded full Type Certificate to the P2012 Traveller with the number A00076CE for Part 23 of the FAA Regulations.

Tecnam is now on track to commence deliveries to aviation companies across the globe, beginning with the first 20 of the one hundred P2012 Travellers eagerly awaited by Cape Air in Massachusetts, US.

The first few P2012 Travellers, already produced and ready to go, will fly from Capua to the Cape Air base in Hyannis, MA in the upcoming weeks.

Powered by two 375 HP turbo-charged Lycoming engines, the Tecnam P2012 Traveller features a modern design and state-of-the-art equipment, allowing single-pilot operations, depending on individual country regulations. The aircraft’s simple and easily accessed airframe and systems, fixed landing gear, robust interiors and easy-to-replace parts, result in high efficiency and low maintenance costs. These attributes, and many more, make it the ideal aircraft for regional airlines.

The arrival into service of the next-generation 11-seat, twin-engine P2012 Traveller is much anticipated by a large number of airlines, who have been demanding a replacement for the many hundreds of ‘heritage’ aeroplanes in the FAR23/CS23 category currently in service around the world. This aircraft is set to open many profitable opportunities in Short Haul transportation and is revolutionising the Piston Engines sector.

Already established as a leader in both the Flight Training and Private General Aviation sectors, the entry into service of the P2012 Traveller will undoubtedly herald very similar success for Tecnam in the very competitive commuter airline market.

This key certification milestone will add and ensure new and significant profitable revenue streams for Tecnam, which have been built on a foundation of over 70 years’ aircraft manufacturing.

The Tecnam board is particularly proud to have met all schedules announced at the time of the application for the certification program: the first P2012 prototype made its maiden flight in July 2016, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) awarded full Type Certification in December 2018, and now the FAA validation is also in place.

Tecnam’s Managing Director, Giovanni Pascale says:

“The FAA certification of the P2012 Traveller marks a significant milestone for the Tecnam team, our very first commuter airline aircraft. We have embraced new challenges and developed new skills. I am very proud, together with my father Paolo, to lead one of the most innovative and growing global aviation companies. We dedicate this important achievement to Luigi and Giovanni Pascale, the two brothers, my grandfather and my great-uncle, who started all this in 1948.”
